A believer should be baptized because Jesus told us to do it (Matthew 28:19). We are also baptized to follow Jesus' example from Scripture. It's a public declaration of faith in Jesus and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism signifies a believer's commitment to following Jesus. We see in Scripture that Jesus was baptized, and we also see the early church in the book of Acts practicing baptism, and baptism is explained in the Epistles.
What does baptism involve?
We practice a full immersion, meaning the person is completely submerged in water, symbolizing burial and resurrection.
Who can get baptized?
Anyone who has put their faith and trust in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior! Baptism is an act of obedience for the believer. The person who has trusted Jesus as Savior and reflects Him as their Lord through obedience.
What should I wear?
Wear something modest, comfortable, and something that you're ok with getting wet…really really wet. It’s ok to wear a swimsuit, but remember modesty. Typically, folks wear a swimsuit with a T-shirt over it. We also suggest bringing a towel and maybe a change of clothes if you’d like. Invite your friends and family. This is a big spiritual step in your life, following Jesus. This is a way to share the Gospel through your actions.
